The eighth edition of the International Language Week 2023 will be held between October 16-20, 2023, at the Porto Accounting and Business School ISCAP-P.Porto, Portugal.

It is being organized by our Languages Department in cooperation with the Language Centre and the Institute for Intercultural Communication of Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences (co-hosts). This year’s edition, dedicated to the motto “LinguaCulture² – Rethinking Language and Culture in the Digital Era”, proposes debating digitalisation's problems and issues, as well as their impact on current teaching practices. Recent advancements in AI will certainly alter how language and cultural studies' lecturers instruct and evaluate linguistic and cross-cultural competences, bringing this topic to the forefront.

Bringing together lecturers, researchers, trainers, scholars, and undergraduate as well as graduate students, we would like to present different views on an interdisciplinary dialogue and reflections on experiences, practices, and strategies in different fields of expertise.

Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences

Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is an aspiring and family-friendly university. Since it was founded in 1995, the university has developed rapidly and currently has over 3,400 students. It sees itself as an innovation centre in the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main metropolitan region with the campus in Aschaffenburg, the centre for academic services in Obernburg and the learning centre in Miltenberg.

AUAS attaches great importance to excellent study conditions, practical orientation and internationality. The university distinguishes itself through high quality and excellent performance in the areas of teaching, research, transfer and continuing education. It offers interdisciplinary and innovative degree programmes in the fields of engineering, computer science, business, law, real estate and health. AUAS’ degree programmes are accredited and offer the best opportunities for launching a successful career.

The university is characterised by a personal and lively culture of learning and discussion on campus as a place of encounter. Applied research as well as knowledge and technology transfer are particular strengths of AUAS.

AUAS cooperates with companies and with the scientific community in Germany and abroad and promotes young scientists. The university maintains exchanges with over 80 partner universities worldwide. In this way, it makes an important contribution to meeting the social and global challenges of the present and the future.

The designation “Technical University of Applied Sciences” is reserved only for a select number of universities of applied sciences in Bavaria. In a sense, it represents a quality feature: it is a reflection of the quality of AUAS’ research, the ever-increasing amount of third-party funds acquired, quality and number of publications, and growing number of cooperative doctoral candidates, in particular in the engineering sciences.
